Hanukkah

Last week the boys learned about Hanukkah.

We used these books:

We played Dreidel:

The boys made their own Dreidel:

We made Potato Latkes for lunch.  This was the perfect recipe to make with children.  The boys took turns peeling and grating the potatoes then adding the final ingredients and stirring.  I did all of the frying.  We wanted to be authentic so we ate ours with applesauce (but then I pulled out the ketchup!)

The boys each made a menorah:

Bud wouldn't hold his still for a picture and Mowgli wrote his name in the middle of his, so his only shows the top.

We also located Israel on the map and globe and learned the history of Hanukkah and the reason behind the 8 candles.

Shalom.

  1. Looks like you found a dreidel. I was at target Friday and they have a bunch if it's something you borrowed and want for yourself.

    1. Thank you for the head's up. We did borrow one, the ones we made didn't really work to play the actual game, so I'm glad I had a real one. The boys loved it, so I do want to buy one.
